It is with much regret that we are called upon to chronicle the death of Mr. B. T. Hopkins. He died at his home in Marion last Friday afternoon, after an illness of several days. For many years Mr. Hopkins was a prominent merchant of Marion. He was a man who always took a deep interest in public affairs, and was a member of the parish school board at the time of his death, ever taking an active interest in the cause of education. A christian man, a moral and upright citizen, his loss will be severely felt by his community. He leaves a widow and two daughters to mourn his death. Mr. Hopkins was about 50 years of age.
