Stanley “S.D.” Kennedy, Jr.

December 23, 1932 – January 20, 2021

Mr. Stanley Dean “S.D.” Kennedy, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.

Born on December 23, 1932 in the Salem community where he was also raised, S.D. attended school in Farmerville, La.  He worked early on in life in the logging industry, prior to a career spanning over 30 years on the pipeline, where he drove a lowboy truck for various pipeline companies across the United States.  S.D. served as a member and deacon at First Baptist Church, Marion and deeply loved the Lord.  A devoted Bible reader, he would read his Bible cover to cover several times a year.  S.D. was also a longtime member of the Union Masonic Lodge #53.  In addition, to his love of God, he loved his family and enjoyed making people laugh.  He had a passion for working, truck driving, spending time with his grandchildren and being outdoors.  His favorite activities included rabbit and coon hunting, gardening, and spending time with his buddies on Fridays at John Saunders camp.

S.D. is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Dean Kennedy, Sr. & Sarah “Sallie” Taylor Kennedy; son, Stanley Larkin Kennedy; six sisters; and two brothers.

S.D. is survived by the love of his life and wife of 69 years, Yvonne Kennedy of Marion, LA.; daughter, Susan Reppond & husband, Dale of Farmerville, LA.; daughter-in-law, Linda Kennedy of Haile, LA.; grandchildren, Mitch Reppond (Kathryn) of Monroe, LA., Katie Miers (Glenn) of Sterlington, LA., Haley King (Jason) of Farmerville, LA. and Joni Johnson (Brooks) of Linville, LA.; as well as twelve great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held for immediate family with a memorial service to be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please extend offerings or donations to First Baptist Church, Marion, La. or Taylor ~ Liberty Hill Cemetery, Farmerville, LA.
