John Ed Johnson

May 31, 1939 – January 06, 2021

John Ed Johnson Sr., 81, passed away on January 6, 2021, at his home in Farmerville, La.  Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Farmerville on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. with the service being held at 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.  Officiating will be Bro. Kurt Auger.

John Ed was born on May 31, 1939, in Farmerville, La.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Johnson; parents, Joe & Susie Johnson; and sister, Mary Johnson.

His is survived by his son, John Johnson, Jr. & wife, April; grandchildren, John-Barron & Brett Johnson; his “girls”, Mary-Kate & Lauren Moss; and special friend, Susan Edwards.

In 1962, John Ed started his own business as a logging contractor, which evolved into John Ed Johnson Logging, a successful and well respected logging company operating throughout Union Parish and the surrounding areas.  In 2000, Plum Creek named John Ed as their Logging Contractor of the Year.  He served as a Board Member for Claiborne Electric Coop, past member of the Gideon’s International and a Deacon at Franklin Street Baptist Church. 

Some of John Ed’s favorite hobbies were spending countless hours at different ball fields coaching Little League and Dixie Youth Baseball and playing softball with the City Drug Softball Team.  John Ed enjoyed hunting and fishing with his “boys”.  John-Barron and Brett were his pride and joy.

Pallbearers will be John-Barron Johnson, Brett Johnson, Caskey Terral, John Preaus, Gary Johnson, Joseph Odom, & Gene Bearden.
