Death enters the membership of Meridian church, Truxno, La., and calls to her Savior, Mrs. Victoria Shute Andrews, wife of J. T. B. Andrews (deceased). She was born in Shelby County, Tenn., July 28, 1838, married 1861, and left with the cares of her family June 19, 1885. She was mother of eight children, three girls and five boys of which number four boys and one girl alive to mourn her death. She died Dec. 21, 1904 at the age of 66 years. She lived a devoted christian 35 years and counted it a joy to serve her family.
To those who survive her we may truly say:
Let us not weep as those who have no hope.
As sweetly as a child whom neither
Thought disturb, nor care encumbers,
Tired with long play, at close of summer's day,
Lips down and slumbers.
She set as sets the morning star which goes not
down behind the darkened west,
or hides obscured among the tempests of the sky.
But melts away into the light of heaven.
Oh, let us trust with holly men of old,
Not all the story here begun is told,
So the tired spirit waiting to be freed
On life last leaf with tranquil eye shall read
By the pale glimmer of the torch reversed.
Not finis, but the end of volume first.
"Life's race well run,
Life's work well done,
Life's crown well worn,
Now comes rest."
