Bertha Lee Tabor Fomby was the youngest of John Burl and Josephine A Butler Tabor’s 13 children. She was born in the small community of Mount Tabor in Union Parish, Louisiana.
She married William Jesse Fomby on March 23, 1918. They lived most of their married life in Shiloh, Louisiana where they brought up 7 of their 8 children. Their baby James Wilson died 3 days after his birth.
She was a wonderful mother and a grandmother that every child should be blessed to have. She spent most of her life taking care of others.
She loved her parents and all of her brothers and sisters. Her children and grandchildren grew up listening to all the stories of Mama and Papa. They are all aware of who they came from. She was proud to be a homemaker, mother, grandmother and caregiver.
She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her husband and three of her sons, Jesse Marvin, William Lee and James Wilson.
Left to cherish her memory were her son and daughter-in-law, Robert Laurence Fomby and Lovie; her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Beatrice Fomby Fleisher, Doris Marie Fomby Crowell, Evelyn Aline Fomby and Palmer Moore, Tressie Lee Fomby and Frank Upshaw: her grandchildren, Harvey Fleisher and Vicki, Linda Fomby Brady, David Fleisher and Dede, Karen Wilkins, Kathy Philley and Don, Mike Upshaw and Debi, Sheryl Hamilton and Gordon, Debbie Upshaw, Leona Maroney, Cindy Dickerson and Dennis, and Steve Fleisher; fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and a very close and special friend, Aline Westbrook.
