Mr. James W. Pickle, a native of this parish, but for the past four or five years a resident of Carey, Miss., died at that place Saturday evening. The burial services were conducted according to the ritual of the Knights of Pythias order , Pelican Lodge of this place, of which the deceased was a member, attending to his interment.
Mr. Pickle, so we learn, had been in poor health for some time and last Friday intending to take a dose of quinine he made a mistake and took a large dose of morphine. Medical aid was promptly summoned to his bedside and he regained consciousness, but the terrible effects of the heavy dose of morphine had effected his heart to such an extent that he did not survive longer than Saturday. Mr. Pickle leaves a father and several brothers and sisters and a host of friends in this parish to mourn his sad death.
