Mr. George Everette Rogers Sr. of Downsville, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. He was 66 years old. He was born Tuesday, November 25, 1947 in Monroe, Louisiana

He was preceded in death by: His parents, Everette Eugene “Sam” and Doris Honeycutt Rogers; a brother, David Rogers.

Mr. Rogers was owner/operator of Rogers-U-Pull-It Auto Salvage Yard and was an avid collector. He was also a former deputy with the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Those left to cherish his memory include: His wife Sharon Lewis Rogers of Downsville; a son, Dr. George Everette Rogers Jr. and wife Connie of Charlotte, Tenn.; three daughters – Christy Rogers and husband Jerry of West Monroe, Allison Guice and husband Chris of Grapevine, Texas and Wendy Miller and husband Matt of Winnfield; 11 grandchildren – Andrew, Aaron and Anna Claire Rogers, Caleb, Morgan, Logan, Natalie and Chloe Rogers, Mattie and Emma Miller and Connor Guice; a sister, Sybil Ganey and husband Wilbur of Downsville; three nieces – Toni Rose, Sherilyn Gaston and Deanie Rogers.

The family received friends on Thursday, November 13 at Community Baptist Church, 164 DeFreese Rd., West Monroe, from 5-8 p.m. and again on Friday, November 14 from 11 a.m. until time of services. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014, at Community Baptist Church with Rev. Danny McIlveene officiating. Interment followed in Rocky Branch Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be John Obed, Billy Wayne Silmon, Bill Cook, JimBo Holman, Richard Bennett and Butch Sheptock. Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
