Mrs. Pratt, 94, died at home surrounded by her family, February 6, 1920, in Cherry Ridge, Union Parish, Louisiana, Lillian Mignon Terral was born at home to Rosa and Tom Terral. She was the fifth of seven children and the last born daughter. She would always be the “baby girl!”

Young people from all around came to swim in a pond on the family farm. That is where Mignon and Vann Lawton Pratt first met in 1935. Six years later, after she graduated from La. Tech, they began their marriage of 62 years.

In 1953, the Pratts, now including two daughters, Cherry and Carolyn, moved to Ruston from Monroe. Mignon was eager to help with all of her daughters’ activities. She was also a member of the Garden Study Club and Culture Guild. She and David Wright were appointed to the Lincoln Parish Jury Commission at the same time. She was the first woman and he was the first African American member of the commission. Mignon took great interest in serving from 1971 – 2010.

Mignon’s faith in Christ and her relationships at First Baptist Ruston were the focus of her life. There she served as Sunday School teacher to adolescents and then to her peers. She was a leader in Woman’s Missionary Union and was a faithful advocate for missions. She served on many church committees and enjoyed them all. As she grew older, in order to remain connected with young families, she would go to the church nursery and ask the workers to identify the babies for her! Mignon accepted change in church and community because she always hoped for the coming generations to be drawn to Christ and to be a part of His church.

After her husband’s debilitating stroke, Mignon sacrificially and joyfully cared for him the last 12 years of his life. Now, –years later Mignon has “fought the good fight, finished the race, kept the faith.”

Mignon is preceded in death by her husband, Vann L. Pratt, parents, Tom and Rosa Terral and by 6 siblings.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cherry Pratt Kirkpatrick and husband, Vance, of “pa Amani,” Kenya and Carolyn Pratt McFarland of Denver, CO, and her three grandchildren, Cara Kirkpatrick Phillips, Kyle Kirkpatrick and Jeffrey McFarland. Nonnie loved, knew and was loved by each of her eight great grandchildren. Mignon was very grateful for her many nieces and nephews. She loved them all dearly.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM till services time at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Ruston.

We, Mignon’s family, thank our dear friends, church family, neighbors and the wonderful ladies who lovingly cared for her the last years of her life.

The family requests that memorials be made to the International Mission Board Lottie Moon Offering.
