Emily Jean (Linder) Thurmon, age 81 of El Dorado, formerly of Junction City, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.
Jean was born on August 6, 1933 in Lillie to the late Lester Linder and Audrey Butler Linder. She attended Bethel Baptist Church in Lillie and was a homemaker. Jean formerly enjoyed quilting, crocheting and especially enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends.
Jean was preceded in death by: Her parents; a daughter, Marsha Carol Rowland; one brother, Paul V. Linder; husband Grant Vernon; and her late husband, Earnest Thurmon.
Those left to cherish her memory include: A son, Mike Rowland and wife Glenda of Farmerville; daughter Melinda Leigh Tamez and husband George of Houston, Texas; two grandsons – Chris Tamez and Ethan Tamez both of Houston; a brother, Joe Linder and wife Linda of Shreveport; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Bethel Baptist Church in Lillie.
Funeral service were held at 1:30 p.m. following the visitation, with Bro. Phillip Farris officiating. Burial followed at Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado/Junction City.
