A celebration of life service for Mary L. Spillers, 94, of Huttig, Ark., formerly of Downsville, was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014, in the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home of West Monroe with Reverends Scott Jennings and Jeff May officiating. Interment followed at Spillers Cemetery in Downsville. ‘
The family received friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Mrs. Spillers was born on May 14, 1920, and passed from this life on July 17, 2014. She married J.C. Spillers on October 15, 1940.
She is preceded in death by: Her husband; daughters Velma Miller and Bonnie Atkins; and sister Bessie Mae Outz.
She is survived by: Her children – Denise Spillers of Huttig, Joyce Norwood and her husband Larry, James Spillers Jr. and his wife Ellen of Farmerville, Sandy Spillers of El Dorado, Don Spillers and his wife Flora of West Monroe, Doris Johnson of New Mexico, John Spillers of Texas; as well as 20 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, plus Baby Marshall due January 2015; a brother, Leroy Pouncey of Austin, Texas; and sister, Katy Cook of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; plus a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Larry Norwood Jr., James Norwood, Jason Norwood, Scott Norwood, Benji Williams and Tommy Kendrick. Honorary Pallbearers were Tommy D. Kendrick, Dakota Eppinette, Kevin Eppinette, and Brandon Norwood.
