Mr. Alan Dane “Bud” Roberson, Jr. passed away at his home in Downsville on June 3, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Roberson was born on April 2, 1948 in Monroe to Alan Dane “Al” Roberson Sr. and Rowena Roberson.
Bud lived the majority of his life in Union Parish but also lived in Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. He graduated high school in 1966 from Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. He later attended Louisiana Tech and Northern Arizona University. He was a man with many interests and was a member of Boy Scout Troop 33, a horseman, a calf roper, a hunter, a leather craftsman, an accomplished gardener and a leader in the church. He had a fantastic sense of humor and was a master storyteller. He is widely recognized by those that knew him for his strong sense of family. He proudly raised them with Linda, his wife of 39 years. He always considered his family as his greatest accomplishment.
He is preceded in death by: His father. Alan Dane Roberson Sr.. and niece Anna Bess Williams Smith.
Survivors include: His wife, Linda Roberson of Downsville; mother Rowena Roberson of Farmerville; five children – Trey Roberson and wife Jeanetta of Ruston, Katie Batterton and husband David of Choudrant, Lon Roberson and wife Jeannie of Ruston, Andrew Roberson and wife Ashley of Calhoun and Lucas Roberson and wife Stacie of Ruston; two brothers – Willy Roberson and wife Sharon of Farmerville and Carl “Ace” Roberson and wife Marisa of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sister Gail Williams and husband Joe of Clyde, N. Car.; as well as 16 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial services for Mr. Alan Dane Roberson Jr. of Downsville was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Bethel Church of Downsville. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to St. Jude’s Hospital.
