Edward Holley passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the age of 85, while in the Overton Brooks V.A. Hospital.
Edward was born on March 8, 1928 in Lillie, La. to Leonard W. Holley and Nettie Williams Holley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Holley, Nettie Holley, and his brother, Glen Holley.
He is survived by his children, Mark Holley, Gayle Holley, John Holley, five grand children, and five great grand children.
Edward served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and after discharging from the Navy, farmed in Union, East Carroll, and Richland Parishes. He retired from farming in 1980, and formed Holley Mail Service in Shreveport, La. and Stockton, Ca. in 1983. He retired from the mail service in 1994, returning to Union Parish. He has resided at the North Louisiana War Veterans Home in Bossier City for the past 6 years.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, March 8, 2014, to celebrate what would have been Edward’s 86th birthday, and his life. The memorial service will be held at the Shreveport Elks Club, located at 310 East Preston Avenue, Shreveport, La., from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
