Martha Kay Parish Taylor

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha P. Taylor, will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, December 2, 2013 at Salem Baptist Church near Farmerville, La. with Revs. Aleck Nyegaard, David Martin and Willie Cottrell officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Hill/Taylor Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Martha Kay Parish Taylor, age 72, joined her Lord and Savior and a host of family and friends on Friday, November 29.

Mrs. Taylor is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Parish and her son, Daniel.

She leaves behind her husband of 53 years, George A. “Pete” Taylor, daughters Joni and husband Bill Janning of Allen, Tx. and Susan and husband Jason Leger of Mandeville, La. She has six grandchildren: Morgan, Ashley and Luke Janning and Ethan, Maddie and Jake Leger. She is survived by brother Joe Parish and wife, Debbie of Golden, Co.

Martha was born in Monroe, La. on February 19, 1941 and grew up in Sterlington. She graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1959. She married George A. “Pete” Taylor on October 7, 1960 and made her home in Thibodaux, La. where she received her accounting degree at Nichols State College in 1962. Her children were born in Lafayette, La. where she lived for over thirty years and served the Lord as a member of First Baptist Church of Lafayette.

Martha lost a long thirty-one year battle with cancer and its effects, but never complained nor lost hope. Since September 2001, she has lived at Farmerville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Farmerville, La.

Pallbearers will be her sons-in-law, Bill Janning and Jason Leger, grandsons Ethan Leger, Luke Janning and Jake Leger and brother-in-law, Joel Taylor.

Visitation will be held from 4:00PM to 6:00PM Sunday at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Steven Venters, FNRC staff, Union General Hospital and First Choice Hospice for her care.
