Margaret C. Estes

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Estes, 91, of Farmerville will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, November 4, 2013 at Farmerville United Methodist Church with Rev. Johnny Hankins officiating. Interment will be in the Farmerville City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Margaret was born on June 25, 1922 in Hillsboro, TN. She was the daughter of Rev. Cecil and Mrs. Sudie Crosslin. She passed away Friday, November 1st at home surrounded by her loving family.

Margaret lived in twenty-seven different locations and never met a stranger. She and her husband, Troy, retired to Farmerville in 1985. The daughter of a Methodist preacher, Margaret made her church home at Farmerville United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and served in many capacities. She was also a member and office holder of the Order of the Eastern Star. Margaret had many interests, beginning with an early career working outside the home, followed by involvement with her children and grandchildren’s classroom activities and sports. She also devoted her time to charitable organizations and visiting anyone in need. Margaret also enjoyed fishing, hooking many impressive bass, as well as keeping up with sports, and in particular, Lady Techster basketball. She enjoyed cheering on T-ball, Little League, baseball, basketball, football and Cedar Creek Lady Cougar Softball. Mamaw’s greatest joy was being with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Troy H. Estes; a sister, Maxine Crosslin; and three brothers, Frank Crosslin, Joe Crosslin and R.C. Crosslin.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Donna E. Ward and husband, Dr. Tommy Ward of Farmerville, and Lisa Estes of Montgomery, AL; son, Mike Estes and wife, Dana of Farmerville; three grandchildren, Dr. Chris Ward and wife, Amy of Greenbriar, AR; Keith Ward and wife, Heather of Farmerville; and Marisa Estes of Farmerville; three great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Dylan and Brandon Ward of Farmerville; and dear friend, Jan Brown of Montgomery, AL.

Pallbearers are Charles Freeman, Jimmie Stapleton, John Gleason, John Preaus, Jim Miller and Raymond Bullock. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Terral and Keith Kenley.

The family would like to thank Nita and Barbara and the St. Joseph Hospice Staff for their loving care. The family requests that memorials be made to the Methodist Children’s Home in Ruston, LA, the Union Parish Humane Society or Broken Wings Ministries of Farmerville.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Farrar Funeral Home.
