He was a 1939 graduate of Farmerville High School and served his country in WWII as a member of the United States Army in Pacific Theatre. He followed his time in the army with a successful 33 year career with US Steel, in the Cyclone Fence Division. He married the love of his life, Doris Marshall, on October, 31, 1942. It was a love that lasted for nearly 70 years. Their love resulted in three children, Skip, Rob, and Marsha.

Upon his retirement from the steel industry, Bryson and Doris returned to Farmerville where they both became active members in the community. A man of strong faith, Bryson was a charter member of Crestview Baptist Church, helping to found and establish its place in the community. He remained a committed member for the rest of his life. Along with his faith, family was of great importance to him, and this showed in the way he took on his role as a loving father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
