Funeral services for Mr. Billy Jim “B.J.” Pierce, 84 of Farmerville, Louisiana were at 2 p.m., Monday, January 14, 2013 in the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed and Bro. Pete Williams officiating. Burial followed in Pierce Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Family visitation will be Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Pierce died Friday, January 11, 2013 in Farmerville, La.
Mr. Billy Jim Pierce was born March 2, 1928 in the Haysland Community of Panola County, Texas to Gordon Wall and Jewell Vera Brown Pierce. He attended Haysland and Beckville schools. Mr. Pierce, a welder, owned and operated B.J. Pierce Construction Company until his retirement in 1994. He married Thelma Ruth Ramsey on November 1, 1974 and together they celebrated 38 years of marriage. A member of Calvary Baptist Church in Beckville, B. J. had a zest for life. He enjoyed fishing, trail riding and spending time with his many friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, G.W. Pierce and grandson, Kevin Brian Pierce.
Survivors include his loving wife, Ruth Pierce of Farmerville, La; sons, Jimmy Pierce and wife Sandra of Reeves Community, Tx, Kenneth Pierce and wife Brenda of Beckville, Tx, March Davidson and wife Terry of Farmerville, LA and Ronald Davidson and wife Annette of Fayetteville, Ar; grandchildren, Wesley Pierce of Hallsville, Tx, Justin Pierce and wife Amanda of Beckville, Tx, Tammy Franklin and husband Scott of The Colony, Tx, Scott Davidson of Tucson, Az, Kelly Howard and husband Larry of Beckville, Tx, Lisa Cross and husband Jeff of Henderson, Tx, and Tiffani Harris of Gary, Tx; 19 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers were his grandsons, Kevin Pierce, Jr., Ryan Pierce, Trenton Bennett, Trevor Bennett, Dustin Carr, and Keith Carr. Honorary pallbearers were Dalton Pierce, Christopher Pierce, Tucker Pierce, Caiden Pierce, Joe Jacobs and Bob Jones.
