Charles H. Sutterfield, 78, of Marion, passed away Oct. 5, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday at Farrar Funeral Home with Bro. Bubba Hoggatt officiating.

Mr. Sutterfield was retired military with the U. S. Navy, having served in the Vietnam Era as Chief Submariner on the USS Darter. He received several military medals, one in particular was the official Navy Accomodation Medal he received after he personally saved the entire crew and submarine from sinking due to a fire onboard. Mr. Sutterfield was a member of the North McAlester Oklahoma Masonic Lodge, also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Bedquin Temple of Muskogee, OK. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was an avid fisherman and his vegetable garden was to be envied.

Preceding him in death were his parents: Edward & Sarah Sutterfield, 7 siblings and the mother of his children: Mary Ellen Sharp.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 13 years, Martha Sutterfieldo Marion, LA; 3 sons: Charles Sutterfield, Jr. & wife, Beverly of Loveland, CO, Chris Sutterfield & wife, Lisa of McAlester, OK, Clay Sutterfield of Bethel Island, CA; 1 daughter: Mary Elizabeth Sutterfield of Tulsa, OK; 6 grandchildren: Veronica, Bradley, Megan, Blake, Chuck and Crystal; 7 great grandchildren; 1 sister: Angie Coston and numerous nieces and nephews.


Mr. Charles Sutterfield, a retired military submariner, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012.  A memorial service was held at 2:00PM Sunday, Oct. 7th at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.  Arrangements were under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.
