Memorial services for Margaret Ann Ramsey Breathwit Wilder, 90 of Ruston were held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston. Officiating was be Rev. Jerry Hilburn. Mrs. Wilder died Friday, June 15, 2012 in Ruston.
Mrs. Wilder began her higher education in 1941 at Principia College where she earned her Associates degree. She continued her studies at Louisiana Tech where she earned a B.S. in Sociology and Biology in 1943. In 1972 she earned a M.A. in American History and in 1978 earned her EdS in Counseling. In 1994 she graduated from Grambling State University with a EdD. Other certificates include a Tutor certificate earned in 1989 and other adult and special education courses in 1985-1986. Her work experience includes; 1970-1972, St. Frederick H.S., Monroe; 1976, Teacher at the Bienville Parish Jail adult education program; 1975-1976, Director Title IV-C Federal Program Motivational Management Jackson and Bienville Parish Schools; 1972-1976, Taught Social Studies and English at Coleman H.S., Gibsland; 1978-1995, Teacher and Director, Adult Education Center, Bienville Parish Schools; 1989-2007, Educational consultant for Weyerhaeuser Industries (formerly Williamette). Other Organizations, Awards and Achievements include; Optimist Club of Arcadia, Charter Member; Louisiana Counsel of Social Studies-Executive Board member; LA Assn. Public School Adult Educators; LA Educators Assn.; American Assn. of University Women; Delta Kappa Gamma-Honorary Teachers Org., local chapter president; Kappa Delta Social sorority-member White Rose Circle; Daughters of the American Revolution, Regent and Treasurer; Colonial Dames-National Society of the Colonial Dames XVII Century Sir John Payne Chapter, the Order of Descendants of Ancient Planters and many others.
Mrs. Wilder is preceded in death by her husbands, James Gulley Breathwit and Henry Longfellow Wilder, Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Emily Kempton Wilder Gay and husband Tom of Columbia, LA and Ann Harrison Wilder of Grayson, GA. Two Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren.
Visitation was from Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 12:30 p.m. until 1 p.m. service time at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston.
