Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Stokes Harrell, 94, of Sterlington, LA were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2007, at Paron Baptist Church in Sterlington, with Rev. Kurt Anger officiating. Interment followed in Liberty Cemetery in Linville, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mrs. Harrell passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Timber Lake Nursing Home in Farmerville. She was a member of Paron Baptist Church. Mrs. Harrell enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She loved to cook, mow her yard, spending time outdoors, and attending church services.
Mrs. Harrell was preceded in death by her father, Robert Thurston Stokes; mother, Emma Nolan Stokes Parks; daughter, Deborah Kay Harrell; husband, Vernon Harrell; stepfather, John Reeves Parks; four brothers, Ed Stokes, John “Sugar Boy” Parks, Jack Parks, and Little Buddy Parks; and one sister, Mildred Parks Love.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Angela Denise Neighbors; grandson, Jerry Lloyd Neighbors, Jr.; great grandson, Kenneth Lloyd Neighbors; sister, Nellie Parks Megison; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.
Pallbearers were Randy Parks, Thomas Hollis, Danny Martin, Paul New, Robin Parks, and Dennis Stokes. Alternate pallbearer was Ernest McCurly.
Honorary pallbearers were Jasper Snell, Sidney Stokes, J. M. Roberson, Stanley Stokes, and Kenn Harrell.
Visitation was Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
